Why is a verification code required to transfer my number?

Your security comes first.

Unauthorised mobile number transfers are becoming more common and can result in fraud or identity misuse. To help protect your service, we require a quick verification step before your number can be transferred.

When you request a transfer, a one‑time verification code is sent directly to the mobile number being transferred. You’ll need to confirm this code before the transfer can continue. This confirms that you’re the rightful owner of the service and that the transfer has been approved by you.

This process is the fastest, safest and simplest way to move your number—which is why you should only start activation when you have access to your phone.

For security reasons, the code can’t be sent to a different phone number or email address. This ensures that only the owner of the mobile service can authorise the transfer.
