Moving house is exciting for some and then super stressful for others! Between packing boxes, organising keys and booking the removalist, the last thing you want is to move in and realise you're offline.
If you're an existing More nbn® customer and planning a move, a little prep can make all the difference. Here's a simple, no-jargon guide to relocating your More nbn® service, so internet is one less thing to worry about – bookmark this now, you can thank us later 😊
Let's get started:
1. A few weeks before you move: check your new address and book in your service transfer
As soon as your move-in date is locked in, it's worth checking whether your new place has been connected to the nbn® before.
You can check this by entering your new address on our nbn® page.
Why does this matter?
Connection times can vary depending on the property's nbn® readiness. If your new home has previously had an nbn® service, you may be able to get connected within a few business days. If it hasn't, an nbn® technician visit might be needed, which can take up to 3 weeks.

Top tip: Booking early gives you the best chance of being connected as close to your move-in day as possible.
2. What to leave behind (this part trips people up)
This is one of the most common move-in day mistakes...
All nbn® supplied equipment must stay at the property you're leaving.
That includes things like the nbn® connection box, its power supply and cables. This equipment is registered to the address and won't work at your new home.
If you're ever unsure whether something belongs to nbn®, look for the nbn® logo or leave it behind and take only your own gear.
Top tip: If you didn't buy it or it's got an nbn® logo on it, leave it behind.
3. What to pack (so you can get online faster)
While the nbn® equipment stays put, there are a few things you should bring with you:
- Your Wi-Fi router
- Power cables and Ethernet cables
- Any mesh Wi-Fi units you use around the house
Moving house is also a good chance to reassess your setup, especially if you're upsizing, downsizing or dealing with thicker walls.
Top Tip: More customers can score $50 off a new router via the Self-Care portal. If yours is over three years old, it may be time to upgrade.
4. Moving day and your first night in the new place.
Surrounded by boxes, eating pizza on the floor, what a milestone – well done you. 👏
Once the pizza box is empty and you are ready to make your new home, home:
-
Plug in your More Wi-Fi router or follow these instructions if you have a BYO Wi-Fi router. Give it a little time if your service is scheduled to activate that day. You'll receive an email and SMS from us once your service is activated on our end.
-
If something doesn't look right, jump into More's Help Centre or get in touch with our Technical Support team, they're there to help get you sorted.
Top Tip: Do not let this process stress you out, give us a call and we will support you along the way.
